TRACK AND FIELD FIXTURES

ABOUT THE CLUB

We are a long established club going back many years with an old

cinder track. This was upgraded in 1998 to the present synthetic

track through various joint funding's with Burnley Boys Club, Burnley United FC, Burnley Athletic Club and Burnley Borough Council.

An upgrade of the Hammer/Discus cage in 2011 now allows us to host National competitions, this again was awarded to us through various funding's.

The Clubs Coaches and Officials are all UKA qualified and hold current DBS certificates, as volunteers they each give up their spare time

free of charge to run the Club so that all Membership and Track Fees

go toward the upkeep of the Club and the Affiliations to the various Leagues the Club competes in.  Transport to and from meetings

can be arranged through volunteer drivers, the Club does not cover costs of entries and transport to Open competitions, League Medal meetings or Championship meetings. The Track and Field season

runs from March to September and the Cross Country season runs

from October to March so there is always something to do.

We are members of, and compete in various leagues:

MID LANCS TRACK & FIELD AND CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE

NORTHERN SENIOR TRACK & FIELD LEAGUE -

NORTHERN MASTERS TRACK & FIELD LEAGUE

RED ROSE CROSS COUNTRY LEAGUE

At the end of the Track & Field season we hold a presentation evening, this is when our Athletes are rewarded for their hard work over the

past Cross Country & Track & Field season, Certificates

and Trophies are awarded. This is a good time for all the Athletes, Parents, Families and friends to get together for an enjoyable social evening.

SAD NEWS

It is with great sadness that we report the loss of one of our Honorary Members,

ALLAN PRESTON who passed away on 9th May 2016.

He dedicated many years as a Committee Member, Team Official and most of all an excellent Throws Coach, mainly Javelin.  He passed on his great knowledge of the sport to some of the coaches we have today.

Rest in Peace Allan, we will all remember you and what you gave to the club.

A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER

STEVE BATESON

of Runningpix was at Hyndburn on 16th January and took

some lovely photographs.  Unfortunately

at the moment the Mid Lancs League website is not accessible

for updating with photos of that event and

some of our members, particularly younger ones and their parents,

may be interested in looking at Steve's photographs. Can you

please let your members who ran at Hyndburn know that these photos are to be found by clicking this Runningpix link.

Copies of the photo’s can be ordered from his website.

FUNDRAISING

U11 BAC member Francesca Farnworth has been busy fundraising

again.  This time she asked her Grandma Jones to bake a Christmas

cake and arranged for their friend Liz to raffle off the cake in the

Burnley Hospital shop.  Francesca raised £91 for BAC which will go towards new equipment and repairs to our facility.  Both the

Committee and all BAC’s members are very grateful and proud of Francesca and her efforts to help raise much needed

funds , a BIG well done goes to Francesca!!

DAREDEVIL GRAND DAD

A very big thank you the Eric Smith who you may know from our

story (Newsletter) shocked everyone by completing a run tethered

to the Longest Zip Wire in the country (in the slate mines of Wales)

and said he enjoyed every minute of it. His fete has donated over £220.00 to the club. Again we say a big

WELL DONE and THANK YOU to Eric.

If any Members have any fundraising ideas, please approach a

member of the Committee and we will do our very best  to put them

into practise and raise the money needed to improve YOUR CLUB.

PLEASE USE EASYFUNDRAISING it dose not cost you anything

But you can raise money for a good cause
