After the long hot summer it was a massive shock for everybody this weekend when the fifth Mid Lancs meeting of the season at Barrow-in-Furness was almost washed out half way through.
Horrendous weather conditions nearly saw the meeting cancelled in the early afternoon, luckily the weather abated for enough time to complete the remaining events but not before many of the athletes had headed home early.
Four hardy souls ventured north from Burnley AC and put in admirable performances in the very difficult conditions.
Lydia Stanworth finished fourth in her 100m, John Linaker ran a seasons best in his 100m, Helen Goodwill claimed maximum points in both the Discus and Javelin and Steve Goodwill claimed maximum points in the 100m, 200m and Long Jump.
John Linaker and Steve Goodwill fought through strong headwinds in the sprints.
The next meeting is the Northern Senior League at Whitehaven on Saturday 4th August where a small but committed group of athletes will be trying to finish off the season in style in Cumbria.
