Hello everyone, sorry for the lack of updates since the club closed at Christmas.
We have continued to work together behind the scenes with Burnley Leisure to allow Burnley AC to recommence training at the club, whilst following all the guidance laid down by the Government and England Athletics.
We are pleased to announce that training sessions at the track will recommence this Monday 29th March but initially this will be strictly for the same group of athletes who were training before the current lockdown came into force on 6th January 2021.
Training days will remain as Monday and Thursday evenings from 6pm but will only be for athletes in the over 11’s age groups who were fully signed up members during the 2019/20 season.
As a club, we have a duty of care to all our competing athletes in making sure they have attained the necessary level of fitness prior to representing the club in competitions. Our first priority therefore is for these athletes to have the first opportunity to train at the club in preparation for the scheduled meetings later in the summer
Those athletes will again be contacted directly asking them if they would like to return to training and advising them of procedures.
The aim is to invite more athletes to return as the current restrictions are eased but other factors such as availability of coaches have to be taken into account when making such decisions.
We understand that this is a very frustrating time for athletes of all ages who are desperate to return to the sport and that some people will be very disappointed at not being able to return immediately. We will do everything we can to restore the club back to what it was before the pandemic struck and that everyone that wishes to train can do so as soon as possible.
All our best wishes
Burnley AC Committee
**IMPORTANT**
Athletes MUST NOT arrive at the track without permission as entry will be refused.
